Buy your tasting kit ($33 includes domestic shipping), gather with us on a Saturday afternoon (March 26, 2pm PT), and learn how to taste like an expert. Each tasting kit will have 6-8 anonymously labelled tasting squares and a note card with a helpful tasting wheel.

After we taste the different chocolates blind we will reveal the bars! The tasting seminar will last 60-90 minutes, and if you can’t make it live, we will post it to YouTube each month.

Why are we making the samples anonymous? Like it or not, we are all affected by branding, packaging and all kinds of information that influences how we receive a product. This is a way to remove some bias, and bring an earnest and honest palate to the chocolate bar.

I also believe that in the same way that beer or wine have flaws and industry folks get trained in these flaws, craft chocolate is the same. It is a nascent industry, which is all the more reason for us all to be open to improving our craft, benefiting all makers and cacao farmers, by connecting price and quality, not blowing out the market with sparkly packaging and poor substance inside.
