Jamaica Tasting Teaser with OneOneCacao
Jamaica Tasting Teaser with OneOneCacao
You don’t want to miss the box of 6 chocolate samples (~10g per sample) to be shipped with insulation and ice packs on the week of June 6th. Four of the tastes will explore 4 different parishes on the island, and 2 of the tastes will be with inclusions: Blue Mountain coffee bar, and Sorrel (Hibiscus) white chocolate. Sorrel is very bright and sour, so it will mix nicely with the white chocolate, even for those who sure they aren’t fans of white chocolate. This sorrel bar is made from single origin cacao butter pressed to make this classic Jamaican flavor into a delicious bar. You don’t want to miss it!
Chocolates, ice packs, delivery (US only via USPS) and virtual tasting (Sunday June 12th at 12pm Pacific) with Nick, Marta and Sunita are all included. Join us for the Instagram live for a preview on Saturday June 4th at 10:30am Pacific. If you would like to join and are international, special arrangements can be made, extra shipping costs will need to be covered.
If you order after June 14th, the samples will not ship until July 8th, 2022.
OneOneCacao is part of a larger collective that was born during COVID along with the Black Lives Matter movement. Some of you ordered the sampler box from The Cross Atlantic Chocolate Collective, an exciting new organization bringing together folks with African ancestry on the continent as well in the Caribbean to work together to support each other and share their experiences making finished bars from the cacao they produce. This is an important step towards shifting the legacy of extraction and exploitation by the global north. The legacy of colonization and enslavement is far from being resolved, it seems we are only just starting to look more honestly at just how intricate a system is in place. Our global system favors the status quo, and pushes against folks who work to shift the old patterns of the status quo.
This tasting will engage our senses, and also take a peak at the myriad challenges that exist if you are trying to do business in this alternate way. It is like swimming against the current every minute of every day… it is easy not to notice the current when you are swimming WITH the current and it is all that you have known. It requires listening and noticing how the system doesn’t work for all, to understand how hard it can be to swim against the current. I hope together we can do more of that. Come to Jamaica and we will properly dive in! :)
